The movie, The Other Boleyn Sister, is coming out soon. We thought it would be fun to see the movie together and discuss over ice-cream afterwards.

just started reading today! So far it seems interesting. Can't wait for book club
I bought the book yesterday and can't wait to start reading it. Even though I won't be able to make the movie/discussion next month, it looks so good I'm gonna read it anyways!
I had to buy the copy of the book with the movie cover, not the cover posted on here. i feel so foolish! ha ha just kidding
I asked if they had a copy without the movie cover, and they did. I don't like movie covers on books.
I've deleted a couple comments because I think they were spam. If I was wrong, sorry. I think I fixed the problem in settings.
Oh yea! I was so sorry to miss book club this week but I am feeling better now. I'm looking forward to this one. And YEA -- I'm loving my October Mystery Choice (I have some good ideas.)
I think with historical fiction the author expects you to know the basics already. I went on wikipedia and read up on henry's historical facts. I keep finding little comments and figures she has thrown in that you would miss if you didn't know the history. So, if you don't mind spoiling some of the surprises, I recommend a quick read on widipedia.
oh yeah it is hard to remember sometimes that these are all real people that you are reading about and Philippa Gregory is just taking some creative licensing to add to an already dramatic/scandelous story. My mom, monique, and I are always trying to remember who is who's daughter and aunt, cousin blah blah blah
This is a great read! I cannot wait to get together and hash out some of my feelings about these characters! So lets plan some serious time - and I want Monique our Pope to speak - I am tabbing my pages girl.
I just finished the book last night! Since I'm gonna be out of town when you meet to discuss...
( I know you all feel sorry for me) I just have to put my two cents in! It was heartbreaking to read about Queen Katherine. She was the only one I could really feel sorry for. Everyone else kind of made their own bed so to speak. The fact that this was basically a true story, not all the details but this did happen, made it even sadder. All I can say is THANK GOODNESS I was born in this time period and not back then! I would have been beheaded FOR SURE with my big mouth!! The injustice towards women.. it was so sad to read. But I LOVED it! Has anyone read anything else by this author?
Just finished last night! Wow I have a lot of pages marked to discuss. Can't wait to hear what you all have to say.
Yea! I'm so glad people are finishing. I finished a couple of nights ago and am dying to talk about it. I will hold off as best I can til the 18th.
I know I am having the hardest time not talking about this book with everyone I talk to. I am pretty sure that Reuben is getting so sick of me talking to him about it.
Monique and Betty have read all of the royalty books by Phillippa Gregory and liked them all, but the Wideacre ones are trashy.
Just finished....I can't wait to get together and hear your thoughts. Great book. I want to get into another one by her. Any suggestions on which one?
We could read the Bolyen inheratence about Mary and Ann's daughter and some of their cousins I think. There is The Virgins Lover which is about Queen Elizabeth (Ann's daughter) and there is one more in the royalty books she wrote but I can't remember what it is. If I got any of the characters wrong for the above mentioned books please feel free to correct me. I haven'tread these ones yet so I don't remember for sure. I would love to read some more too!
Also, The Constant Princess, about Catherine, before she becomes queen.
Okay, I think the movie will be playing at 6:40 at the Chandler mall on Tuesday. Does this seem like a reasonable time? The movie is about 2 hours long. We could meet a little before if we really want to have a long discussion. Sadly, I have jury duty (see my blog) and can't get out too early in the day. Also, this is one of the very few theatres that I found the movie playing, the next closest was Mesa. Post any problems or ideas.
And Laurie, the Pope will definitely have some good discussion matter. (Since the publisher was kind enough to include it at the back of the book) I'm kinda like Megan, I just like it 'cause it's scandalous. Btw meg, that's scandal, with an a.
Thanks Mo I caught that after I already wrote the comment! Also I posted a blog about movie times and what not, but you probably already saw that if you are responding to this
